Located in the narrow medieval
streets of Laguardia, this beautifully renovated 17th
century manor house is surely a great choice for lovers
of excellent food, wine and old world charm. Thanks
for this must go to the husband and wife team of Jaime
Gutiérrez and Meri Huergo. Together, they have
transformed Migueloa from a place in almost total ruin
to a delicious lodging - in all senses of the word.
On entering the building, one cannot but fail to notice
the impact of the original stonewalls. In fact, this
is a constant throughout the 8 rooms, all of which have
been exquisitely furnished with fine antiques that are
fully in keeping with the discreet feel of the place.
Gastronomy and wine make up an essential part of Migueloas
character. Its pretty subterranean wine cellar, for
example, is thought to be the oldest in Rioja and it
is certainly worthwhile going down the stone stairs
to take a look. The restaurant too is famous for its
excellent cuisine..
